Glossopsitta is a monotypic genus of small green lorikeet with a red stripe of plumage through the eye and blue crown. G. concinna of mainland southeastern Australia and Tasmania shares a common ancestor with its sister lineage, Trichoglossus at 4.8 Mya (1.3–7.8; figs. 1, 14). Figure 16 View FIGURE 16 indicates that the difference of more blue in the crown of mainland populations likely is valid for adult males and that while closer study is certainly warranted, we see merit to continued recognition of G. c. didimus.
