Paroxyna loewiana Hendel, 1927a: 154 View in CoL . Lectotype. Austria (Schneeberg, Alps) (NHMW). Norrbom et al. (1999) noted that suspension of I.C.Z.N. rules required to validate usage. Lectotype designated by White (1986: 152).
Tephritis theora Newman, 1833: 506 View in CoL . Syntypes. Scotland & England (Cambridgeshire; Oxfordshire; nr. London; Birch; Camberwell; Coombe; Darent; Deptford; Hampstead; & Southgate). (Unknown type depository). Has priority over loewiana , but synonymy uncertain ( Norrbom et al. 1999).
Distribution. PA: British Is. & Scandinavia S to France, Albania & Ukraine, E to Mongolia, China & e. Russia,
Egypt.
Egyptian localities. Lower Nile Valley and Delya: Kafr Hakim.
Host plants. Unknown.
Dates of collection. February.
Comment. Dr Valery Korneyev (personal communication) noted that the identification of this species from Egypt
requires more elucidation.
