Notes. Buyck (1988) studied the species complex Diderma spumariodies - globosum and differentiated between two varieties, the var. globosum , with sporocarpic sporophores, prominent columella, and spores 9–12 µm in diameter, and the var. europaeum Buyck , with generally plasmodicarpic sporophores, columella reduced to a widening at the base, and 9–12 µm in diameter. The Peruvian specimens match the var. globosum .
