Distribution, habitat and ecology:—South China (Hainan Island), central Vietnam (Ninh Binh Province), Malaysia (Malay Peninsula, Borneo), Indonesia (Sulawesi, Sumatra). In lower to middle upper montane forest, at 1000–2000 m altitude, on yellow sandy soil or limestone areas.

Phenology:—Flowering in April to May. Acorns mature in current year. Fruiting Sept. to early Nov..
