Description of Rhizobium grahamii MS 6Y-8-4

Cells are Gram-staining-negative, non-flagellated, and rod-shaped. Colonies are circular, entire, smooth, raised, and white-colored after 3 days on MA at 30°C. Positive for esculin hydrolysis and urease and β -galactosidase activities in API 20NE, but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, and arginine dihydrolase and gelatinase activities. D-Glucose, Larabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, D-maltose, N -acetyl-glucosamine, potassium gluconate, adipic acid, trisodium citrate, malic acid, and phenylacetic acid are utilized. Does not utilize capric acid. Strain MS6Y-8-4 (= NIBRBA 0000114283) was isolated from a ginseng soil sample, Anseong, Korea.
