Description of Cellulophaga fucicola KA View in CoL 18
Cells are Gramstainingnegative, nonflagellated, nonpigmented and rodshaped. Colonies are opaque, complex, hairlock like, convex and yellowcolored after 3 days of incubation on MA at 25°C. Positive for β galactosidase in API 20NE, but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, esculin hydrolysis and gelatinase. Does not utilize Dglucose, Larabinose, Dmannose, Dmannitol, N acetylglucosamine, Dmaltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid. Strain KA18 (= NIBRBA 0000114107) has been isolated from a seawater sample, Gwangyang Bay, Korea.
