Distribution: W Europe to Urals, Caucasus, and Turkey; Britain and Ireland; Sweden, S Finland, Baltic states; Madeira Isl; W Himalayas, Pakistan, E Afghanistan; NW Africa.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: Includes verrucosus , see Corbet (1978 c), who also included azoreum ; but see Palmeirim (1991). Reviewed in part by Bates and Harrison (1997). For discussion of correct spelling ( leisleri ) see Bogdanowicz and Kock (1998).
