Afrasura peripherica hilara ( Kiriakoff, 1958) comb. n.

Type locality. Belgian Congo, Lake Kivu, Rwanda District, Rugege Forest (holotype 3 Arct. g.sl. n. 313 BMNH, examined).

Distribution. Ruwenzori, Bwamba Pass. Belgian Congo [ Democratic Republic of the Congo], West Kivu, Katana. Lake Kivu, Rwanda District, Rugege Forest.

Material examined. Belgian Congo: holotype 3 Arct. g.sl. n. 313 BMNH. Rwanda: Ƥ Arct. g.sl. 5752 BMNH.

Diagnosis. Forewing pattern with large bands, red bordered. The lack of marginal dots on the hindwings differentiates this species from Afrasura neavi , with which it had been synonymized by Kühne (2005). The large sclerotized cervix differentiates the female genitalia of peripherica from others.

Description. Ven a ti on (Ƥ, g.sl. n. 5752 BMNH) typical for the genus with hindwings M3 having the same origin of CuA1. Male coremata present. Female pheromone dorsal glands slightly longer than posterior apophyses. Female genitalia with lightly sclerotized ductus bursae, constituted by the large funnel-shaped antrum, and the narrow colliculus. Cervix bursae large, sclerotized, with a large membranous proximal (i.e., at the connection with the ductus bursae) area, with small thorns and a cluster of bigger thorns opposite; corpus bursae membranous, hemispherical, covered internally by tiny thorns, linked laterally to the cervix, with rounded dimple-shaped signum.
