Type Locality: ".only found in the closest forests of Java," [ Indonesia].

Vernacular Names: Gray-cheeked Flying Squirrel.

Distribution: Java and Borneo.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Formerly called sagitta Linnaeus, 1766 ; see Medway (1977:104). Formerly included platyurus ( Corbet and Hill, 1992; Hill, 1961 c; Medway, 1977:104), but see Thorington et al. (1996).
