Etymology: The replacement name merges the generic name given by the Brazilian palaeontologist Rafael Gioia Martins-Neto (1954–2010) with his family name.

Type stratum: Lower Cretaceous , Santana Formation .
Type locality: Santana Formation , Araripe Basin, northeastern Brazil .
