Observations. ARGENTINA • Multiple (no sexual dimorphism); Corrientes, La Cruz, Paraje Tres Cerros; 29°06′19′′S, 056°55′25′′W. Several individuals, recorded in all seasons, foraging near or in shallow water GoogleMaps .

Identification. Largest of the herons. Black on head. Mainly grey over back and wings.
