Original material: Herb. Linn. No. 353.5? ( S) ; Herb. Linn. No. 1019.2? ( LINN) .

Current name: Zinnia peruviana L. ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Both Torres (in Brittonia 15: 12. 1963) and Hind (in Bosser & al., Fl. Mascareignes 109: 179. 1993) indicated some doubt ( “?”) as to whether 1019.2 (LINN) should be considered the type, possibly because Linnaeus wrote in his protologue "Semina hujus misit Burmannus, plantam non dum vidi".
