REMARKS

Plagochila steyermarkii is a rather rare neotropical species that has been recorded from Venezuela, Guyana, Cuba and Dominica, growing on trees and rock in montane rainforest at 960-2200 m ( Robinson 1965; Schäfer-Verwimp 1999; Grolle & Heinrichs 1999; Rico & Pócs 2004). The species is recognized by the small plants with distant, deeply bifid (to 1/2-2/3) and frequently caducous leaves, and thick-walled leaf cells with large trigones.
