Genus Noterapion Kissinger
Noterapion Kissinger, 2002: 315 . Type species: Apion meorrhynchum Philippi and Philippi, 1864 , by original designation.
The genus was assigned as the type genus (monotypic) of the apionine tribe Noterapionini Kissinger (2004) . It contains seven species which are associated with Nothofagus Blume View in CoL , the southern beech, between latitude 34 8 58 9 S and 54 8 55 9 S in Chile. N. meorrhynchum oviposites in freshly abandoned leaf galls of a cynipid wasp ( Paraulax sp. ); 1 gall may produce up to 12 weevils. See Kissinger (2004) for a key to the species.
