Espèce type: Libellula brevipennis Rambur, 1842 .
Taille petite (L.: 28 mm), rouge; face rougeâtre; ptérothorax brun rouge, clair: nervulation alaire lâche, seulement 6 anténodales aux ailes antérieures et 5 aux postérieures, base des postérieures légèrement ambrée avec de petites taches brun noir, ptérostigma court, ocre; abdomen rouge, hamules très longs et effilés.
