Figs. 22B‒H View FIGURE 22

Type species. Tivia simulatrix Walker, 1869 View in CoL

Male characters. Femur armament: all femora with an apical spine.—Tibia armament: [1–3.6.1][6–7.6(7).2–3][9– 11.6(7).4–5]. Fronttibia with 1 dorsal spine in T. termes (Karny, 1908) View in CoL , 2 in T. brevipennis Princis, 1967 , 3 in most other species. Last ventral spine of mid- and/or hindtibia in some species very close to the apical whorl or even at the same level, thus generating whorls with 7 spines.—Left phallomere: On both bases of the L2 arch with a variously long, often hooklike process, at the left the process pda, at the right the transformed L1 sclerite; R1M forms a flat tongue-shaped lobe, Fig. 22B–H View FIGURE 22 .—Supraanal plate: posterior border broadly rounded, sometimes mesally almost straight, but never with an excision.—Cercal tricholiths: absent.

Material studied.

T. simulatrix Walker, 1869 , type species of the genus Tivia . 1♂, Holotype, Lake N’Gami (prep.: Bo 543). (M. London). 1♂, S.W.Africa, Okahandja, 2.III.1956, F.Gaerdes (prep.: Bo 516); 1♂, S.Afr., Cape Prov., Upington , Orange River, 20.XI.50 (prep.: Bo 525). (M. Lund)

T. morosa Shelford, 1908 . 1♂, Syntype, D.S.W. Afr., Rietmond, Gibson, 1903, C.Berger (prep.: Bo 549). (M. Darmstadt). 1♂, S.W.Afr., Tugab, Knomashochland, 26.–27. VI,1952, leg. F.Gaerdes (prep.: Bo 552). (M. Lund).

The comparison of the phallomeres shows that the synonymisation of T. morosa with T. simulatrix by Princis (1957) is not justified.

T. fratercula Rehn, 1922. 1♂, Satara, 27.III.1952, Janse & Vari (prep.: Bo 511) (det. K.Princis, 1958). T. oscillum Rehn, 1922, according to Princis (1963) a synonym of T. fratercula , Rehn. 1♂, Holotype, Waterval , Ermelo District , Transvaal, 12.XI.1899 (prep.: Bo 544). (M. Pretoria.).

For further species see Bohn & Harten 2006 ( T. appropinquata , T. distans , T. doriana ) and Bohn 2007 ( T. fusca ).
