MycoBank number:MB 822128
Etymology:—The specific epithet “ pakistanensis ” refers to the country of the type.
Diagnosis:—Small to medium highly rimose and fibrillose golden brown basidiomata with creamy silver margins, having a reddish brown prominent umbo, ellipsoid to amygdaliform, and slightly phaesioliform smooth basidiospores, clavate basidia and cystidia having a clamp connection at the base, hyaline, filamentous stipitipellis and pileipellis bearing frequent clamped septa.
Holotype:— Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Malakand division, Swat district, Lower Shawar , 1200 m asl, on soil under Quercus incana , 28 July 2016, Zia Ullah AR 23 ( LAH35285 About LAH !; GenBank for ITS: MF588965 for ITS and LSU: MG958608 ).
Pileus up to 3 cm wide, spherical, prominent umbo, conical when young, becoming wider towards maturity, surface dry, fibrillose, sometimes peeling off in the form of fine threads; margins incurved, radially rimose, reddish brown (10YR2/6) from the centre, becoming golden brown (10YR7/8) towards the margins, margins sometimes creamy silver (7.5Y9/4). Lamellae adnate to adnexed, close to crowded, up to 0.25 cm broad, off white when young becoming concolorous with the pileus with time. Lamellulae common, versatile in length. Stipe 5 × 0.4 cm, central, cylindrical, broader up to 0.6 cm towards the apex and narrower towards the base, surface dry, off white, sometimes light brown (10YR7/6) from the centre.
Basidiospores [50/2/2] (8.6) 9.8–13 (13.7) × (4.9) 6–6.6 (7.3) μm, Q = (1.28) 1.42–1.8 (2), avQ = 1.61, ellipsoid to phaseoliform, somewhat amygdaliform, sometimes constricted from the centre, smooth, guttulate, brown in 5% KOH. Basidia (24.1) 24.7–37.4 (38.3) × (7.1) 9.3–12.2 (13.5) μm, broadly clavate, guttulate, clamp connection observed at the base, hyaline. Cheilocystidia (21.2) 23.7–39.3 (43.3) × (7) 9.5–11.9 (13.1) μm, clavate, hyaline, clamp connection observed at the base. Pleurocystidia (51) 57.7–77.7 (87.5) × (14) 15.3–23 (24.6) μm, clavate, hyaline, clamp connection observed at the base. Stipitipellis hyphae (5.3) 7–19.3 (22.4) μm wide, filamentous, rarely branched, cylindrical to clavate terminals, septate, clamp connections observed. Caulocystidia absent. Pileipellis cutis, hyphae (6.1) 7.1–14 (14.9) μm wide, filamentous, branched, septate, hyphal terminals fusiform to mucronate (80.9) 98.5–162.2 (167.7) × (14.3) 17.6–27.4 (32.8) μm, clamp connections frequent, hyaline.
Habitat and distribution:—Among mixed conifers forests of Abies pindrow , Picea smithiana and Pinus wallichiana with some deciduous tree species including Quercus dilatata , Q. incana and some Taxus baccata trees.
Additional specimens examined:— Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Malakand division, Swat district, Lower Shawar , 1200 m asl, on soil under Quercus incana , 28 April 2016, Zia Ullah KS 42 ( LAH35283 About LAH !; GenBank for ITS: MF575849 , for ITS and LSU: MG958609 ) ; KS 19 ( LAH35284 About LAH !; GenBank for ITS: MF575848 ) .
