Apion chloris Gravenhorst, 1807: 199

Gravenhorst compared this species with Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) and Perapion marchicum (Herbst, 1797) . Despite its very short original description, body sheen and dimension (“nicht völlig eine Linie lang”, and therefore less than 2.2–2.3 mm long) suggest Apion chloris to be conspecific with Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) . In accordance, a specimen of Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) is here designated as the neotype of A. chloris . It is a male (fig. 2) labelled: Umg. Berl.: Buch, Coll, Beck / NEOTYPE Apion chloris Gravenhorst, 1807 , C. Giusto des. 2015 / Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) , det. C. Giusto, 2015. Measurements: body length: 2.04 mm, Lr: 0.44 mm, Wmsr: 0.15 mm, Lp: 0.42 mm, Wp: 0.47 mm, Le: 1.42 mm, We: 0.87 mm.

The following new synonymy is proposed: Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) = Apion chloris Gravenhorst, 1807 , syn. n.
