17. Taraxacum atrochlorinum Kirschner & Štěpánek View in CoL , sp. nova.

Type: — KAZAKHSTAN. Zailiyskiy Alatau Range (Khrebet Ileyskiy Alatau), Almaty: catchment area of Malaya Almatinka (Kishi Almaty): in the vicinity of the Institute of Geography (and “CSKA”) field station (“Stantsia Tuyuksu”), north of the Glacier Lednik Molodyozhnyj, a part of the Tuyuksu Glacier complex, loc. 32, 43° 04’ 00.5” N, 77° 04’ 27.9” E, ca. 3450 m s. m., 6 Aug 2009, L. Kirschnerová & J. Kirschner 3067 ( PRA, no. det. 28199, holotype).

Diagnosis: — Plantae graciles foliis glabris integris vel remote minute denticulatis, phyllariis involucralibus exterioribus ovato-lanceolatis vel anguste lanceolatis, obscure griseo-viridibus basi subpruinosis, anguste membranaceomarginatis, ligulis saepissime canaliculatis concoloribus estriatis, stigmatibus griseo-viridibus, acheniis sublaevibus superne minute sparse squamulosis epyramidatis, rostro incrassato usque ad 8 mm longo.

Description: —Plants small, usually 10–12 cm tall. Petiole light green or rarely purplish, long, narrow, unwinged; leaves vivid green, glabrous, linear to linear-oblanceolate, usually 6–8.5 (–10) × 0.6–1.0 cm, undivided, entire or sparsely irregularly remotely denticulate, apex subacute. Scapes brownish green, green or suffused purplish, usually glabrous, sometimes with a few sparse aranose hairs below capitulum. Capitulum 2–3 cm wide. Involucre 8–11 mm wide, broadly rounded at base. Outer phyllaries (11) 12–14 (15), greyish green and often ± pruinose at base, ± not imbricate or slightly so, appressed, ovate-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, broades ± in the middle, 5–8.5 × 2.0– 3.4 mm, with an inconspicuous membranous border (0.2–) 0.3–0.4 (–0.5) mm wide, margins glabrous, apex ± flat to callose; inner phyllaries greyish green, ca. 11–13 mm long, apex callose. Ligules yellow, outer ligules canaliculate (rarely flat to subtubular), usually not striped outside or faintly striped pinkish, inner ligule teeth short, grey or grey-pink. Stigmas greyish green with grey pubescence outside. Anthers polliniferous, pollen grains irregular in size. Achenes light grey with a stramineous hue, (4.2–) 4.3–4.7 × 0.9–1.1 mm, body smooth, only minutely squamulose (or tuberculate) in a narrow zone below ca. 0.2–0.5 mm below body apex, cone not developed; beak easily breaking off, 6.5–8 mm long, thickened (0.2–0.25 mm); pappus whitish-yellowish, 4–5 mm long.—Agamospermous.— Fig. 9B View FIGURE 9 , 10B View FIGURE 10 , 21 View FIGURE 21 .

Taxonomic notes: — Taraxacum atrochlorinum is a species linking T. sect. Qaisera S. Abedin and T. sect. Atrata. It approaches the former in having relatively long and broad greyish green appressed outer phyllaries, and is treated as a member of the latter because of its almost smooth achenes and the thickened beak easily breaking off. It seems to be common in the Zailiyskiy Alatau Range, SE. Kazakhstan ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 ).
