Type Locality: Cameroon, Efulen.
Vernacular Names: Greater Long-fingered Bat.

Subspecies Miniopterus inflatus subsp. rufus Sanborn 1936
Distribution: Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, E and S Dem. Rep. Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, Mozambique, Liberia, perhaps Nigeria. W African distribution uncertain because of confusion with schreibersii .
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Koopman (1993, 1994) included africanus in this species, but see Peterson et al. (1995).
