Artbeschreibung: Bis über 50 m hoch, mit rotbrauner oder grauer Rinde. Nadeln allseitig abstehend, 4kantig, grün. Einhäusig. Männliche und weibliche Blütenstände aufrecht, männliche orangegelb, 2-3 cm lang, weibliche rot. Reife Zapfen 10-15 cm lang, hängend, zuletzt als Ganzes abfallend. Samen geflügelt.
