Syntype (unnumbered; slides 250¯251); Brazil: São Paulo, Sorocaba; Toledo col. [no collection date]. Correction: Almeida et al. (2014) considered this specimen a paratype, which is incorrect. Pinto (1927b) studied several specimens for the description and there was no type designation, therefore this specimen is one of the syntypes, not a paratype.

Note: Usinger (1966: 464) stated that “The type of toledoi is in the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz. It was collected at Limeira, Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil ”. However, he did not examine the type series, basing his redescription of the species on non-type specimens received from P. Wygodzinsky. Despite of Usinger’s (1966) mention of “the type ”, this specimen cannot be recognized in the collection. We therefore consider his statement an error, and not valid as an implicit lectotype designation according to the Article 74.5 of the ICZN (1999).
