Remarks. Distant (1908) described this species based on unspecified number of specimens collected from “ Burma, Ruby Mines" (presently Mogok). This species appears to vary in coloration with respect to the dark markings on the crown and the pronotum as already noted by Distant (1908). The male specimens from India identified here have a fuscous stripe along the claval suture, costal margin and claval commissure, and the apical veins are fuscous and the forewings lack the golden yellow coloration of the female type ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1 – 15 ). However, the male genitalia are similar to those illustrated by Anufriev (1971). This species can readily be recognised by the greatly elongated ventral process of the pygofer similar to that of S. maculata (Baker) . However, both species differ in the shape of the atrium of the aedeagus which is much narrower in S. aureola compared to S. maculata in caudal view.
