Pale brown with green shade (green in life). Head, parts of pronotum, scutellum, femora and forewing venation, pale brown, crown with one apical (sometimes absent) and one basal median small spots, fuscous.
Crown without median carina, pronotum without median carina but with short lateral carina confined to anterior transverse depressed area.
Male genitalia. Tergum of pygofer short, anteriorly produced in lateral view; dorsal margin sinuated in middle, lobe posteriorly rounded, ventral margin concave in middle, ventral process narrowed distally, exceeding dorsal margin of pygofer. Subgenital plate long narrow, more than five times as long as wide at base, dorsolateral margin with 2–3 short, stout macrosetae and numerous long hair-like setae. Connective Y-shaped, with arms longer than stem. Style S-shaped, apophysis curved with series of microsetae, and apically rounded with a few rugae. Ventral process of aedeagus with stem as long as distal arms, each arm rather of uniform width for most part and distally slightly rounded apically, aedeagus membranous, atrium elongate, shaft short, broad at base and narrowed towards apex, surface of shaft spiculate, apex of shaft concave in anterior view, gonopore apical.
Female genitalia. Seventh sternite longer than wide, narrowed posteriorly beyond basal 0.33, posterior margin almost straight with rounded lateral margins with the inner margin notched. First and second pair of valvulae as in Figs 80–83 View FIGURES 80 – 90 .
Measurements. Male 6.2–7.0 mm long, 1.5–1.6 mm wide across eyes and 1.4–1.5 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum. Female 6.6–7.5 mm long, 1.6–1.7 mm wide across eyes and 1.4–1.6 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.

Etymology. The species name alludes to the Western Ghats (Sahyadri, Samskrit). Specimens of this species were collected from various localities from this mountain range.
Remarks. S. sahyadrica has bluntly rounded apices of the arms of the ventral process of the aedeagus as in the case of S. malaya , but the former differs in having much straighter and broader arms in lateral view and the pygofer ventral process more acute and shorter compared to the latter species.
