Brevennia (Brevennia) rehi (Lindinger) View in CoL
( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 , distribution map Fig. 66 E View FIGURE 66 )
Ripersia rehi Lindinger, 1943a: 152 . Ripersia sacchari oryzae Fletcher, 1917: 177 . Ripersia oryzae Green, 1931: 557 . Rhizoecus cynodontis Bodenheimer, 1943: 16 View in CoL . Brevennia (Brevennia) femoralis Borchsenius, 1949: 270 View in CoL . Pseudorhodania marginata Borchsenius, 1962b: 244 View in CoL . Heterococcus tuttlei Miller & McKenzie, 1970: 447 .
Field characteristics: Found inside the leaf sheaths at the bases of grasses. Bodies of nymphs and adult females and nearby plant surfaces covered in loose white mealy wax, which does not form distinct lateral filaments on body margins. Young adult female elongate-oval, mature female broadly ovoid; body colour from bright yellow to light pink ( Ben-Dov 2008).
Microscopic diagnosis: Slide-mounted adult female elongate- to broadly oval. Anal lobes poorly developed. Antennae each with 6 or 7 segments, short and slender for size of body. Legs short and slender, with numerous translucent pores on each hind femur and tibia. Tarsal digitules each pointed at tip and shorter than claw. Cerarii numbering 5 or 6 pairs on posterior segments of abdomen. Anal lobe cerarii each with 2 or 3 setae but without trilocular pores.Anterior cerarii each with a single lanceolate seta, rarely with 2. Circulus absent. Ostioles represented by posterior pair only.
Dorsum with minute lanceolate setae. Multilocular disc pores present across abdominal segments VI–VIII, and around lateral margins of head, thorax and abdominal segments III–V. Quinquelocular pores fairly evenly distributed. Trilocular pores present across middle of segments. Oral collar ducts narrow, only 1 or 2 present on abdominal segments VI and VII.
Venter with flagellate setae. Multilocular disc pores each with 10 loculi, present in bands along posterior edges of posterior abdominal segments, posterior to vulva, and around body margins. Quinquelocular pores numerous. Trilocular pores concentrated near spiracular openings. Oral collar ducts of same type as on dorsum, present mainly across posterior edges of posterior abdominal segments.
Distribution: Brevennia (Brevennia) rehi occurs in 28 countries in the Nearctic, Oriental and Palaearctic Regions ( García Morales et al. 2016). In Iran, the mealybug has been recorded from Khouzestan province ( Asadeh & Mossadegh 1993a).
Host-plants: The mealybug attacks plant species belonging to 33 genera in the families Arecaceae , Cyperaceae and Poaceae ( García Morales et al. 2016) . In Iran, it has been recorded on Echinochloa crus-galli , Oryza sativa and Sorghum sp. (Poaceae) ( Moghaddam 2013b).

Genus CEROPUTO Šulc
Ceroputo Šulc, 1898: 1 . Type species: Ceroputo pilosellae Šulc. View in CoL
Leococcus Kanda, 1959: 239 . Australiputo Williams, 1985: 60 View in CoL .
Principal characters: Slide-mounted adult female broadly oval. Eye prominence as tall as or taller than length of first antennal segment. Antennae each with 8 or 9 segments and with 0–2 (usually 0) intersegmental sensilla present between each of segments III–IV, IV–V and VI–VII. Legs well developed but slender; with 2 campaniform sensilla on each surface of each trochanter; claw digitules capitate, tarsal digitules either capitate or acute. Cerarii numbering more than 17 pairs, situated on sclerotised plates. Multilocular disc pores present on dorsum. Quinquelocular pores sometimes present. Trilocular pores on venter usually smaller than those on dorsum, and trilocular pores in cerarii at most only slightly larger than those on rest of dorsum. Frons with or without long tubular ducts (anterior to mouthparts).
Comments: Worldwide, nine species are included in Ceroputo ( García Morales et al., 2016) ; one species is known from Iran ( Kozár et al. 1996).
