Type Locality: " Malacca ", but no holotype. Van Weers (1976) designated a neotype from "Runuk Tanjong," Malaysia.
Vernacular Names: Long-tailed Porcupine.
Synonyms: Trichys guentheri Thomas 1889 ; Trichys lipura Günther 1877 .
Distribution: Borneo, Sumatra, Malaya.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Medway (1977:135) considered lipura a distinct species, but did not mention Van Weers (1976).
