This is one of the most common species of Microvelia in stagnant waters, found from Canada to Argentina. There are previous records from Minas Gerais State ( Nieser & Melo 1997; Melo & Nieser 2004), to which we add the following material from Viçosa and Carmo do Rio Claro municipalities.

Examined material. BRAZIL: Minas Gerais – Viçosa, Reserva de Sedimentação Agronomia UFV, 24. V .1993: 1 apterous male, 1 apterous female ( DZRJ). Viçosa, IV.1945, (J. C. M. Carvalho): 1 macropterous male ( MNRJ). Carmo do Rio Claro , 1948, (J. C. M. Carvalho): 1 macropterous male, 2 apterous females, 1 macropterous female ( MNRJ) .
