Distribution
A common species ( Nentwig et al. 2023) throughout the western Palaearctic (Europe and North Africa), especially in Mediterranean countries. Previously cited ( Barrientos et al. 2020) for the District of Beja, this is the first data for the Castro Verde area.

S. simile has a characteristic pigment pattern that appears already in juvenile forms.
