Chorology.
Stenus similis is widely distributed throughout the West Palaearctic eastwards to Kazakhstan and Mongolia. The species exists in northwestern Iran and was recorded as far south as 30°44'N in the Zagros Mountains (Fig. 24 View Figures 19–24 ).
Biogeographical characterization.
Judging from the existence in all of the arboreal Mediterranean, Stenus similis belongs to the Holomediterranean type of distribution.
