Type Locality: Philippines, Mindanao Isl, Davao Province, Mt Apo, 3000 ft (915 m).
Vernacular Names: Mindanao Shrew Mouse.
Synonyms: Crunomys rabori Musser 1982 .
Distribution: Greater Mindanao Faunal Region on islands of Mindanao and Leyte; also on Camiguin Isl; altitudinal range, near sea level to 1550 m ( Rickart et al., 1998; Heaney et al., 1998).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: The taxon rabori was shown to be an old adult example of C. melanius ( Rickart et al., 1998) , as Musser (1982 c) suspected.
