Replaced synonym: Andropogon nutans L. (1771) , nom. illeg. non L. (1753).

Lectotype (Cope in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 246. 2000): Herb. Linn. No. 1211.5 ( LINN) .

Current name: Themeda quadrivalvis (L.) Kuntze View in CoL View at ENA ( Poaceae ).

Note: A nomen novum for A. nutans L. (1771) which is an illegitimate homonym of A nutans L. (1753) . In the protologue of A. quadrivalvis, Linnaeus explained that the use of “nutans” in 1771 had been a typographic error, and that “quadrivalvis” was the intended epithet.
