16. Draba olgae Regel & Schmalhausen View in CoL in Regel (1882: 8).

Type locality indication: “In Turkestaniae valle fluvii Sarawschan in tractu Kadschraga [originally in Russian] (O. Fedtschenko)”.

Lectotype (designated by Jafri 1956: 105):— TAJIKISTAN. [Sughd Prov.], Zeravshan basin. Pass Kadschraga, 10900’. 20 June [18]70, O. Fedtschenko s.n. ( LE!) . Isolectotype K 000720737!

Lectotype designation has been achieved by Jafri’s (1956) citation “Type: C. Asia: Turkestan, Olga Fedtschenko (L!)”. Later he recognized the specimen in K as a part of the same gathering: “Type: Turkestan, Olga Fedtschenko (LE, K) ” ( Jafri 1973: 136). Despite the absence of collection date and specification of collector’s name ( Olga or Boris Fedtschenko), this was done correctly as evidenced by the condition and stage of the plant (with mature fruits and fewer flowers), the same as that of three plants of the lectotype; the altitude 10,900 ft given on the label; and the date of reception of the specimen at Kew (December 1885). Besides, no other collections of Olga Fedtschenko and no collections of her son are available at LE and apparently elsewhere.

17. Draba tianschanica Pohle in Fedtschenko (1914: 486), nom. illeg. superfl. ≡ Pseudobraya kizyl-arti Korshinsky (1896: 88) [ Draba oreades Schrenk in Fischer & Meyer (1842: 56)].

Type locality indication: “1878. Pamir: Kar-art, 15.800’, August, flowers (Kozlowsky! s. Draba alpina L.).—1895. In the valley of Kok-saj near Kizyl-art, fruits (Korshinsky! s. Pseudobraya Kizyl-arti ) 8. and 9. VII.—1898. Chatyrtash, 12.000’ 3. VII, flowers (Paulsen! s. Draba alpina L.). Outside Pamir: … Altai … Dzungarian Alatau … Trans-Ili Alatau … Aleksandrovsky Range … Central Tian Shan … Alay Range … Trans-Alay Range … Tian Shan of China … Mongolia … Tibet … Kashmir … Sikkim …” (52 syntypes cited, originally in Russian).

Lectotype (designated here): same as for Pseudobraya kizyl-arti Korsh. (see below). Other syntypes in LE!

Pohle (in Fedtschenko 1914: 488–489) did not designate or definitely indicate the type of D. tianschanica and included into its protologue the two previously validly published names, D. oreades Schrenk and Pseudobraya kizyl-arti . The earlier of them, D. oreades , was recognized as D. tianschanica var. oreades (Schrenk) Pohle (1914: 488) and thus the type of D. oreades was included in a subordinate taxon that did not include the evidently intended type of the illegitimate name D. tianschanica . In accordance with ICN Art. 7.5 (McNeill et al., 2012), this name cannot be typified by the type of D. oreades and its typification is not automatic. Taking into consideration that the name P. kizyl-arti was not included in a subordinate taxon and both elements potentially constituting its original material were explicitly cited by Pohle, we found it reasonable to typify D. tianschanica with the herein designated lectotype of P. kizyl-arti thus making the two names homotypic by typification.
