Mimophyscius madecassus Pic 1935:35 . HOLOTYPE. Sex unknown, labelled ‘‘[thin, green-blue label bent in half with illegible handwriting]/ Madagascar /[illegible handwriting]/type/TYPE/ Mimophyscius ng. madecassus n sp.,’’ in MNHN, Pic Coll, new synonym.

Mimophyscius was described as approaching the genus Falsostictodrya Pic (¼

Phaeogala Fairmaire ), and Pic (1935) thought that the type species resembled a large

Physcius Champion. Pic did not mention the genus Phaeogala in his description of

Mimophyscius madecassus and it seems obvious that he did not have access to types of

Phaeogala breviscutata Fairmaire. However , the genus Mimophyscius is distinct from

Phaeogala .
