Lectotype (Merrill in J. Arnold Arbor. 19: 374. 1938): [icon] " Chrysanthemum fruticosum Polygoni foliis Africanum, cauliculis scabris, flore minore " in Plukenet, Amalth. Bot.: t. 382, f. 2. 1705; Almag. Mant.: 47. 1700. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 102: 165 ( BMSL) .

Current name: Osteospermum polygaloides L. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Norlindh (Stud. Calendulae 1: 145. 1943) treated material in LINN as the type but this choice is pre-dated by that of Merrill, and the material in LINN associated with this name in any case appears to have reached Linnaeus after 1753.
