Sorghum halepense View in CoL ( L.) Pers.
(canyota). Planta natural de l’est de la regió mediterrània i del sud-oest d’Àsia, que s’ha estès per totes les regions extremament o moderadament càlides. Creix en conreus, ermassos, regalls, marges de séquies i vores de camins, preferentment sobre sòls nitrificats i humits. Prospera fàcilment a les zones baixes.
