Paratypes: 10 ♂♂ (two specimens dissected; one specimen without apical part of the abdomen), 5 ♀♀ (two specimens dissected): same data as the holotype (2 ♂♂, 1 ♀: cSh; 7 ♂♂, 4 ♀♀: NMW); 1 ♂ (left antennomeres 6–11 missing): ‘ IRIAN JAYA: Paniai Prov. | Bilogay, 2100-2200m | 29.12.1995 | leg. A. Riedel’ <printed> ( NMW). All paratypes with additional red printed label: ‘ PARATYPE | Paraphloeostiba | riedeli sp. n. | Shavrin A. V. des. 2024’.

Description. Measurements (n=17): HW: 0.42–0.56; HL: 0.25–0.26; OL: 0.14; TL: 0.02; AL (holotype): 0.62; PL: 0.29–0.34; PWmax: 0.54–0.56; PWmin: 0.46–0.47; ESL: 0.55–0.60; EW: 0.70–0.76; MTbL (holotype): 0.30; MTrL (holotype): 0.15 (MTrL 1–4: 0.05; MTrL 5: 0.10); AW: 0.61–0.79; AedL: 0.42; BL: 1.80–2.40 (holotype: 1.87).

Habitus as in Fig. 78 View FIGURES 75–80 . Body yellowish brown to reddish-brown, with slightly paler elytra (several paratypes with paler lateral and basal portion of pronotum); antennomeres 6–11 brown; mouthparts, antennomeres 1–5 and legs yellow (some paratypes with distinctly darker preapical maxillary palpomere). Pronotum with fine and sparse punctation, slightly larger in lateral and finer and sparser in middle portions (some paratypes without visible punctation in middle); elytra with moderately dense punctation, distinctly larger and deeper than that on pronotum, finer and sparser in middle; abdominal tergites with distinct, moderately fine and dense punctation. Middle portion of head with dense and coarse isodiametric microsculpture; pronotum with dense microreticulation somewhat similar to that in middle portion of head, finer in middle; microsculpture of elytra about as that in pronotum, slightly finer in middle; abdominal tergites with dense transverse meshes.

Head 1.6 times to twice as broad as long, with narrow and moderately deep linear anteocellar foveae; postocular carinae acute. Ocelli large, located at level of postocular carinae; distance between ocelli 1.6–1.8 times as long as distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eyes. Apical maxillary palpomere about 1.6 times as long as preapical segment. Antennomere 4 indistinctly longer than broad, twice shorter than 3, 5 slightly broader than 4, 6 slightly longer and about twice broader than 5, 7 slightly longer and broader than 5, 8–9 slightly shorter than 7, 10 indisitnctly longer than 9.

Pronotum 1.6–1.8 times as broad as long, 1.1–1.2 times as broad as head, widest in middle, slightly more narrowed posteriad than anteriad; middle portion with indistinct wide longitudinal impressions; laterobasal impressions moderately wide and shallow.

Elytra 1.2 times as broad as long, 1.7–1.8 times as long as pronotum.

Abdomen slightly narrower or broader than elytra.

Male. Posterior margin of abdominal tergite VIII truncate ( Fig. 121 View FIGURES 119–125 ). Posterior margin of abdominal sternite VIII concave ( Fig. 122 View FIGURES 119–125 ). Aedeagus with wide basal portion, gradually narrowed toward small rounded apex; parameres slightly not reaching apex of median lobe, slightly broadened in preapical and narrowed in apical portions, each with three apical and three preapical moderately short setae, inner margins of each paramere in middle with several moderately short setae; internal sac long and moderately narrow, with two elongate sclerotized structures in basal portion ( Fig. 119 View FIGURES 119–125 ). Female. Posterior margin of abdominal tergite VIII rounded ( Fig. 123 View FIGURES 119–125 ). Posterior margin of abdominal sternite VIII truncate ( Fig. 124 View FIGURES 119–125 ). Accessory sclerite triangular, with wide basal portion, gradually narrowed apicad toward small rounded apex ( Fig. 125 View FIGURES 119–125 ). Spermatheca not recognized.

Comparative notes. Based on the general structure of the aedeagus, P. riedeli sp. n. is similar to P. conjuncta , P. guadalcanalensis sp. n., and P. iriana sp. n. It can be distinguished from P. conjuncta and P. guadalcanalensis sp. n. by the less distinct longitudinal impressions in the middle of the pronotum. From P. iriana sp. n. it differs by the slightly shorter parameres, the absence of the punctation of the head, and the less distinct longitudinal impressions in the middle of the pronotum. Additionally, it differs from P. conjuncta by the pronotum with not concave laterobasal margins. From all these species it differs by the narrower median lobe, the different structure of the internal sac and the shape of the female accessory sclerite

Distribution. Paraphloeostiba riedeli sp. n. is known from two localities in Western New Guinea, Indonesia.

Etymology. Patronymic, the species is named after coleopterologist Alexander Riedel (Karlsruhe), collector of the type material.

Bionomics. Specimens were collected at elevations from 2100 to 2200 m a.s.l. The detailed bionomical data are unknown.
