The genus Paraphloeostiba Steel, 1960 View in CoL

Based on the previously published data ( Shavrin 2023b) and new data, the genus Paraphloeostiba containing 59 extant species from the Palaearctic, Nearctic, Oriental, Australian and Oceanic regions (see the map of the distribution of the genus in Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–6 in Jenkins Shaw et al. (2023)). Three extinct species were described from the Baltic ( Zanetti et al. 2016, Shavrin & Yamamoto 2019) and the Dominican ( Jenkins Shaw et al. 2023) amber. The morphological features of the genus can be found in Steel (1960), Zanetti (2011), Jenkins Shaw et al. (2023), etc. Members of the genus can be found in leaf litter, decaying plant remains, dung and carrion, in fermenting fruits, under the bark of trees, on flowers, etc.
