Didemnum albopunctatum Sluiter, 1909: 58 ; Kott, 2001: 148 and synonymy.

Distribution. New record: Western Australia (Rowley Shoals, WAM182.93). Previously recorded (see Kott, 2001): Queensland, Indonesia, Palau Is, New Caledonia.

Description. Flat encrusting sheet, which, in preservative, has minute dark zooids showing through evenly spaced stellate branchial apertures, their margins outlined in white spicules. Sessile, white-rimmed common cloacal openings are evenly spaced over the surface. Globular spicules to 0.06 mm are crowded throughout. The common cloacal cavity is thoracic.

Remarks. The dark-coloured zooids have been recorded previously in specimens from the Swain Reefs ( Kott, 2001). This is the first record of this species from NW Australia.
