Didemnum moseleyi ( Herdman, 1886)
Leptoclinum moseleyi Herdman, 1886: 272 View in CoL .
Didemnum moseleyi: Kott, 2001: 211 and synonymy.
Distribution. New record: Western Australia (off Port Hedland, WAM 188.93). Previously recorded (see Kott, 2001): Queensland (Currumbin to Capricorn Group, Mackay), Indonesia, Philippines, Palau Is, Tokara Is, New Caledonia, Indian Ocean.
Description. As previously described, these thin sheet-like colonies have crowded globular to stellate spicules to 0.05 mm diameter, with 9–11 blunt or conical rays in optical transverse section. Zooids are small with eight stigmata in the anterior row and the undivided testis has nine coils of the vas deferens around it.
Remarks. The newly recorded specimen conforms exactly to the amended definition ( Kott, 2001) based on the holotype of this tropical species. It is the first record from the Western Australian coast.
