Type species. Eminepygia myanmarensis View in CoL sp. nov.

Etymology. The generic name is a combination of the Latin prefix “ emine- ” (meaning “prominent”) referring to the prominent bulges on the last three terga and “ pygia ”, a common suffix for pygidicranid genera. The gender is feminine.

Diagnosis. Head as long as wide; galea strongly sclerotized with one dagger-shaped tooth, epicranial suture a “Y” shape. Scape relatively robust, distal margin angled, longer on exterior face than on interior face; pedicel short, about one-fourth length of scape. Pronotum rectangular. Forecoxae close but separated. Last tergum as long as penultimate tergum, with slightly straight tubercle on posterior border; prominent bulges rising from lateral margins of antepenultimate tergum, continue to extend on penultimate tergum triangularly, and slightly overwhelming anterior border of ultimate tergum. Cercal forceps longer than apical two abdominal segments, evenly curved, sickle-shaped, with ten or more inner dentitions on thick and obvious tubercle.

Remarks. Eminepygia gen. nov. is assigned to the suborder Neodermaptera based on the absence of ocelli and the trimerous tarsi. The cervical sclerites are “blattoid” type, and the carinate femora and segmented pygidium indicate that Eminepygia gen. nov. belongs to the infraorder Protodermaptera .

The new genus has exophthalmic compound eyes similar to those of Diplatyidae , but diplatyids typically have cylindrical body forms, which differs from the flattened body of the new genus. The presence of non-annulated forceps ( Ren et al, 2018) excludes Eminepygia gen. nov. from Diplatyidae and Karschiellidae , so it should be assigned to the family Pygidicranidae .
