Mesostenus kozlovi Kokujev, 1909 View in CoL
Material examined: 1♀, IRAN, Sistan-o Baluchestan Province , Tamin (28°41′56″N, 61°10′15″E, 1933 m), Mal- aise trap, 01– 15.04.2016, leg.: N. Khajeh. GoogleMaps
Distribution in Iran: Sistan-o Baluchestan Province.
Remarks: Examination of the type materials indicating this species is very similar to Mesostenus grammicus Gravenhorst, 1829 . Both species are thought to be mixed in the past or it is also possible that M. kozlovi represents just specimens of G. grammicus with a very scattered punctation on the second metasomal tergite.
General distribution: Palaearctic ( China, Iran [new record]) ( Yu et al. 2016).
Diagnosis (Female). Body length 9.5 mm, fore wing length 8 mm, ovipositor 5.6 mm. Malar space 1.7 × as long as basal width of the mandible. Frons weakly convex and weakly striate ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ). Head behind the eyes not long (0.3 × as long as eyes), curved and weakly narrowed laterally, in dorsal view ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Temple constricted behind the eye, 0.5 × as width as the eye in lateral view ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 ). Notaulus weak ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ). Mesoscutum polished, strongly punctate. Propodeum ( Fig. 4E View FIGURE 4 ) with basal and apical transverse carinae entire. Apical transverse carinae of propodeum present. First metasomal segment ( Fig. 4F View FIGURE 4 ) rather strongly widened to its apex, without a lateral triangular tooth basally. Postpetiole strongly convex in lateral view. Second tergite somewhat scattered punctate. Fore wing ( Fig. 4G View FIGURE 4 ) vein r-m present. Areolet small and irregular. Vein 1m-cu 2.0 × as long as 1/Cu. Hind wing ( Fig. 4H View FIGURE 4 ) with 1/Cu longer than cu-a. Ovipositor 1.7 × as long as hind tibia ( Fig. 4I View FIGURE 4 ). Body black; frontal and facial orbits, tegula and mesoscutum laterally apically yellowish, all femora, fore and mid tibiae completely, hind tibia mainly and metasoma reddish. Antenna with white stripe on sixth to ninth flagellomeres.
