Generitype of Vaccinium Linnaeus (vide Vander Kloet in Taxon 30: 647. 1981).

Current name: Vaccinium uliginosum L. ( Ericaceae ).

Note: Vaccinium uliginosum , with the type designated by Vander Kloet, was proposed as conserved type of the genus by Jarvis (in Taxon 41: 571. 1992). However, the proposal was eventually ruled unnecessary by the General Committee (see Barrie, l.c. 55: 795-796. 2006 for a review of the history of this and related proposals).
