Crepis nudicaulis Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 2: 805. 1753.
"Habitat in G. Narbonensi, Hispania." RCN: 5843.
Lectotype (Rauschert in Feddes Repert. 88: 314. 1977): [icon] " Hieracium dentis leonis folio hirsutie asperum minus" in Bauhin, Prodr. Theatri Bot.: 63. 1620.
Current name: Leontodon crispus Vill. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).
Note: Finch & Sell (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 71: 246. 1976) informally proposed the rejection of the name as a nomen ambiguum, and this has been accepted by most later authors. If this name is rejected, the correct name for the plant depicted by Bauhin appears to be Leontodon crispus Vill. (1779) . Fuchs (in Feddes Repert. 90: 646-649. 1980) provides an extensive review, and additional comments are provided by Greuter (in Willdenowia 33: 235. 2003), who states that the name can no longer be used, citing Art. 57. No formal proposal for the rejection of C. nudicaulis has been made.
