Poland, Kasprowy Wierch, N 49°13’50”, E 19°58’59”, a mountain in the Western Tatras in the Carpathians ( South Poland ), from soil under escarpment, among and under stones GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 4 on slides and 69 specimens alc., same data as holotype. Deposited in the Department of Invertebrate Biology , Evolution and Conservation , University of Wrocław. GoogleMaps

Additional material. 3 specimens on slides and 2 specimens alc. from the Połonina Wetlińska (24 IX 2012, N 49°08’58”, E 22°33’27”, tufts of grass near the ground level, Bieszczady Mountains , southeast Poland) GoogleMaps .

Description. Body length up to 1,4 mm excluding antennae. Body colour pale orange to greyish orange as in Fig 8 View FIGURES 5 – 8 .

Head. Eight ocelli, GH smaller than EF. Antennae length 595 µm (holotype), more than 2 times head's length, Ant IV with bilobed apical vesicle. Relative length of Ant I/II/III/IV = 1/1.9/1.9/2.5 (holotype). Labral papillae smooth ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 18 – 31 ).

Body. Length ratio of Abd IV/III <4. Trochanteral organ as in Fig. 24 View FIGURES 18 – 31 . Claw with 4 internal teeth: paired at 56% and proximal unpaired at 76% from basis (holotype), with the most distal one minute; dorsal tooth intermediate between claw basis and internal pair of teeth. Unguiculus lanceolate, with smooth external edge on leg III. Tenent hair as in Fig. 25 View FIGURES 18 – 31 . Length of manubrium + dentes: 262 + 310 µm (holotype). Manubrial plate with 3 chaetae and 2 pseudopores ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 18 – 31 ). Mucronal subapical tooth similar in size to the terminal one, mucronal spine present. Measurements of particular parts of a body in table 1.

Chaetotaxy. Simplified formula: 3-1-0-2-2/1-3/1-2/1-0-1/0-0-2(3)-2-2. Head chaetotaxy as in Fig 14 View FIGURES 14 – 17 . Thorax chaetotaxy ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 14 – 17 ): Th II area T1 with 1 Mc (m 1), area T2 with 3 Mc (a 5, m 4 and m 4i)(in one specimen in area T1 there is one Mc and one m: 1+ 1m). Abdomen chaetotaxy ( Figs 16–17 View FIGURES 14 – 17 ): Abd II area A1 with 1 Mc (a 2) and area A2 with 2 Mc (m 3 and m 3e). Abd III areas A3 and A5 with only 1 Mc (a 1 and m 3 respectively).

Biology. This species was recorded mostly among and under stones, approximately at 1900 m asl (Tatra Mts) and in tufts of low vegetation at about 1000 m asl (Bieszczady Mts).

Discussion. Superficially, this new species is somewhat similar to E. marginata , but it lacks transversal stripes on the hind parts of some segments of a body. Twenty Palaearctic species have 1-0-1 Mc in areas A3, A4 and A5 of Abd III, but only eight have 1-2 Mc on Abd II ( E. albocincta ( Templeton, 1835) , E. boneti Jordana & Baquero, 2006 , E. germanica Jordana, Schulz & Baquero, 2011 , E. marginata ( Tullberg, 1871) , E. pusilla Latzel, 1917 , E. pyrenaica Cassagnau, 1964 , E. schulzi Jordana & Baquero, 2011 , and E. transversalis Baquero, Arbea & Jordana, 2010 ). Further identification is simple if we consider Th II. Only the new species has 1 Mc in area T1.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the place, where this species was found for the first time–– Kasprowy Wierch, one of the peaks of the Tatra Mountains.
