Type Locality: "Sipora Island, Mentawi Islands, West Sumatra " [ Indonesia].

Vernacular Names: Sipora Flying Squirrel.

Distribution: Sipora Isl ( Indonesia).

Conservation: IUCN – Endangered.

Discussion: Formerly included in spadiceus ; see Hill (1962 c) who noted that an adult specimen is needed to clarify the status of this taxon. Part of the rodent fauna endemic to the Mentawai Archipelago (see comments under Leopoldamys siporanus ).
