scientific name

Juniperus phoenicea L.
status

Juniperus lycia Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 2: 1039. 1753.

"Habitat in Gallia, Sibiria." RCN: 7509.

Lectotype (designated here by Farjon): Herb. Linn. No. 1198.10 ( LINN) .

Current name: Juniperus phoenicea L. ( Cupressaceae ).

Note: Farjon (Monogr. Cupressaceae Sciadopitys : 337. 2005) indicated 1198.10 (LINN) as lectotype, wrongly attributing the choice to Jarvis & al. (in Regnum Veg. 127: 58. 1993) where it does not, in fact, appear. As Farjon’s statement was published after 1 Jan 2001, the omission of the phrase "designated here" or an equivalent (Art. 7.11) means that the choice was not effective. However, this is rectified here.
