Discussion: Revision of this genus is needed; see Poole (1979) and Briscoe et al. (1982). Kitchener and Sanson (1978) considered this genus as probably congeneric with Peradorcas , though McKenna and Bell (1997) continued to recognize Peradorcas as a genus. Species-groups ( Briscoe et al., 1982; Eldredge and Close, 1997) are: P. brachyotis group ( brachyotis , burbidgei and concinna ), P. xanthopus group ( xanthopus , rothschildi and persephone ), and P. lateralis / penicillata group, containing the remainder.
