Type:— CHINA. Hubei: Yichang , without precise locality, 25 Oct. 1887, A. Henry 1730 [lectotype P (P 00644639 )!, ( Fig. 1-A View FIGURE 1 ) here designated, isolectotype K ( K000797885 )!]. Residual syntypes:— CHINA. Hubei: Yichang, without precise locality, 1887, A. Henry 1705 [ GH ( GH00049893 )!, US ( US00139014 )!, K ( K000797884 )!], CHINA. Hubei: Yichang , without precise locality, Oct. 1887, A. Henry 4060 [ P ( P00644638 )!, A [A ( 00049892 )!].
Three gatherings, A. Henry 1730, A. Henry 1705 & A. Henry 4060, were listed in the protologue (Hemsl. 1888). Six sheets of these three gatherings were found in five different herbaria. The sheet P00644639 is more intact and informative than other sheets and it was designated here as the lectotype. This species was originally described from Hubei, and occurs in Jiangxi, Guizhou, Fujian, Shanxi, Zhejiang ( Hsu 1988).
