Heterocoelia brevicula Xu, He et Terayama, 2003 : The Japanese Journal of Systematic Entomology, 9(2): 320.

Diagnosis. This species is similar to H. hungarica (Kieffer, 1906) , known from Hungary, Germany, Italy, Romania, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, in having the first flagellomere nearly twice as long as pedicel and T2 distinctly and densely punctate. But it is easily differentiated from the latter by the flagellar hairs nearly as long as width of last flagellomere, scutellum with 18 large punctures posteriorly, and T2 without punctures anteriorly. In contrast, H. hungarica has flagellar hairs much shorter than width of last flagellomere and a scutellum differently punctured.

Description. Male (holotype). Body length 5.10 mm. Fore wing length 3.40 mm.

Colouration. Body black, except scape, pedicel and flagellomeres 1–4, flagellomeres 5–7 ventrally, mandible, trochanters, tibiae and tarsi testaceous, flagellomeres 5–7 dorsally and flagellomeres 8–11 dark brown; clypeus, coxae and femora reddishbrown; posterior margins of metasomal terga reddish translucent. Wings hyaline; forewing entirely gray, vein brown.

Vestiture. Head and thorax with white hairs. T1 laterally, T2 laterally and posteriorly, and Ts 3–6 with white hairs; Ss with denser white hairs.

Structure. Head: dull, 1.05x as wide as long, lateral margins strongly converging behind eyes; posterior margin slightly convex in dorsal view, with some distinct pits along occipital carina; rounded posterolaterally. Eye 1.19x as long as wide (37: 31), convex, with sparse, erect white hairs. Malar space 0.38x as long as eye (7.0: 18.5). Distance between posterior margin of eye and occipital carina 0.70x as long as first flagellomere (9.5: 13.5). Antenna gradually tapering apically, flagellomeres 2–10 nearly parallelsided; length (and width) of antennal segments in following proportions: 13.0 (6.0): 7.0 (5.0): 13.5 (6.0): 10.5 (6.0): 11.0 (6.0): 12.0 (5.5): 11.5 (5.0): 11.0 (4.5): 10.0 (4.0): 9.5 (3.5): 9.0 (3.0): 8.0 (2.8): 11.0 (2.5); flagellar hairs long, nearly as long as width of the last flagellomere. Clypeus rectangular anterolaterally. Frons densely and coarsely but not deeply punctate, interspaces narrower than punctures. POL:OOL = 7:10. Pronotum dull, rounded and not protruding anterolaterally; slightly concave laterally; posterior margin slightly concave in dorsal view. Mesoscutum somewhat shining, with fine scattered punctures; notauli very deep and sharply margined; longitudinal furrow not developed, but with two pits posteriorly. Transverse furrow between mesoscutum and scutellum deep with a pair of deep pits laterally. Scutellum weakly shining with 18 large scattered punctures posteriorly. Episternum coarsely irregularly and deeply punctate. Propodeal disc approximately half as long as wide (10: 22); lateral propodeal spine 0.20x as long as propodeal disc medially (1: 5); carinae on dorsal surface of propodeum well developed; sublateral carinae extending to lateral spines; lateral surface of propodeum irregularly wrinkled, upper margin with a parallel strong carina reaching only to vertical edge of disc but not to lateral spine, posterior margin with two parallel strong carinae. Metasoma smooth; T1 impunctate; T2 distinctly and deeply punctate posteriorly except anterior quarter impunctate; T3–T6 sparsely punctate anteriorly and impunctate posteriorly.

Distribution. China (Zhejiang Province).
