Notes.
This species was included by Vásquez et al. (2014) in their list of Bolivian orchids as a species of Cranichis , however, the original illustration of Ponthieva multiflora shows that the petal, gynostemium and lip are basally fused, a character not recorded for Cranichis , but is present in Ponthieva. Unfortunately, we were not able to find the specimen Vásquez C. et al. 670 to confirm its generic placement in Ponthieva .
